Datacenters + Photos = DataPhotos
Here’s a picture taken in a datacenter in Chile after the 8.8 earthquake in Feb 2010:
Notes from an internal EMC email:
“PSE was finally able to dial in and found the machine running with a single bad drive. The locals went on-site yesterday, power off the box, stood it back up and powered it back on. Still just a single drive with two logicals for the customer to verify. There were a couple of lost writes, but overall, un-believable.”

June 2009 Update:
Dave Graham shares his love for the new Dell R610 here.

Hello,
I recently purchased an Auction that included a DMX 2000.
Funny story here…..I can’t open the cabinet.
I don’t know how the open the back..it appears locked. and the front doors are open but latches appear to be locked…can you possible help this sales guy out and tell me the Ancient secret of “opening the Kimono”..
Thanks,
Doug
Doug,
You need a hex socket. On the top edge of the doors is an access hole. Inside the hole is a hex shaft that is connected to the door latches. Insert the socket (I think 7/16th) and twist 1/4 turn. the door should pop open. If there is power to the system don’t go poking around inside with the doors open.
Jim
PERFECT!…haha ..Thanks so much Jim.
I grabbed a hex/driver and it worked perfectly…
Story gets better…..on the other side of the Cabinet is another 144 of the 10K 146GB Drives.
The Kimono has opened !!!
Now i gotta get the six 240V sockets and power….
(we focus on the Clariion product line of EMC)
What a beast….if can be yours for $9K …
Thanks Again
